Colonoscopies
Colonoscopies for the screening of colon cancer are one of the most common procedures that Dr. Schroeder preforms. The purpose of colonoscopies is to identify noncancerous collections of tissue called polyps, and remove them, before they turn into cancer. The most important quality indicator for colonoscopies is the adenoma detection rate (ADR). This is a measure of how often polyps are identified in a given colonoscopy. The higher your endoscopist’s ADR, the more reduced your risk for developing colon cancer. The national benchmark for ADR is 25%, Dr. Schroeder’s ADR when recently measured was greater than 60%.

Cancer
Dr. Schroeder participates with the tumor board at Morrison Cancer Center. The tumor board consists of doctors from multiple specialties including pathologists, oncologists, surgeons, and radiologists. He has a special interest in cancer of the colon and is involved in the Enhanced Recovery Protocol for colon cancer. He has been involved in local quality improvement projects for the prevention of colon cancer.
